Nintendo 2DS - Introduction

Quote
Nintendo has announced a new version of the 3DS handheld console that plays all 3DS and DS games but cant display the 3D effect.

The Nintendo 2DS, part of the Nintendo 3DS family of consoles, is designed specifically for anyone looking for a more affordable entry point into 3DS gaming.

In the US it will be available in red or blue for $129.99 from 12th October, the same day Pokémon X and Pokémon Y comes out. Nintendo of Europe doesn't set the price of hardware in the UK. Look for shop prices to go live very soon.

The Nintendo 2DS plays the entire library of packaged and downloadable games for Nintendo 3DS only in 2D, and features a fixed, slate-type form factor. Optional carry cases will be available in red or blue at launch for $12.99 a pop.

mostly aimed for you people who cant afford the both original 3DS or people who are young aged around 7 younger something something...

I think it's a fantastic idea, When the original 3DS came out, I could barely afford it and had to sell some of my favourite game's just to ensure I could buy it.
Not to mention that around 80% of 3DS users don't even use the 3D feature due to eye strain and other reasons.

It's obviously designed for people without 3DS consoles to join the next generation in time for Pokemon X & Y (Both the Console & Games are released on the exact same day), and this isn't a bad thing at all.
I personally know a few people who say they would consider upgrading for X & Y if their was a cheaper console available and this is it.

Everyone is insulting the design of the console just because it dares to look different to all the other DS Console's which look like early 2000's flip up motorola phones.

Let's ALL join the Nintendo hate train just because they care about their fanbase.

I used to use the 3ds feature on full blast while I was playing my Pomemon Dungeon Mystery Dungeon. Now I wear glasses

I still use the 3D when playing Monster Hunter and I don't wear glasses.

No, I mean I had it on the full max on 3D during the entire game. Apparently, they said I was straining my eyes and now I wear glasses for computer, reading, playing my DS ect

So did I. I played it for about a week non stop. Although there is a warning that little kids shouldn't use the 3D for prolonged periods of time, if at all.

I use it myself, albeit not much. But I still do use it a fair bit, and nothing has really happened, but as Tene said, Nintendo has said that little kids shouldn't use the 3D for prolonged periods, if at all. This is because their eyes are developing, and the eye strain can stunt eye development, which ends up with people wearing glasses and such.

Memories, something a person will have forever.
