There is no 'official gym leader', you are both co-leaders. The two leaders are of equal rank to each other. Some people seem to think they are the boss just because they've been there longer but they're not and don't have the authority to fire their fellow leader.

You're both 'official' leaders. You both co-lead the gym together. If one leader could fire the other, you'd have been fired long ago, simply because your coleader wants the gym to himself.

If you don't like your coleader now, why did you choose them?

Kab is usually on more than Emolga anyway, and is a pretty nice guy/girl. You have no proof Kab lied, and he doesn't seem like someone who would.
