Viable Solution to HM:Flash
« on: June 19, 2012, 05:58:22 am »
Well, I just had an awesome idea that could make flash viable without having to create a plugin (possibly having to add to a plugin). If, at the entrance of certain parts or sections of a cave that are normally pitch black, the block that the player will walk on could have script block walk event that will apply blindness for a certain amount of time. This mimics the effect of dark caves within the game. If a player with the correct badge is under blindness, they could type /flash (add it as a command with badges++ possibly), and the effect would wear off. When exiting a cave (or section of the cave where flash isn't needed), the block could be scripted to return the player to normal. Its just an idea, that could be implemented with the cleaning up of badges++ code and Paradox's possible HM plugin.

Hope you like the idea :)

I already talked to para about an HM plugin. We got stumped on flash and strength

Well, this is a possible solution to flash. Might need a bit more refining though. See how Para thinks :)

On the topic of HMs, I have a suggestion. To use HMs, you'd need items in your inventory to use them. In the games, you sometimes walk into an area that you need an HM to use to move forward, and sometimes you forget to bring a Pokemon that knows the move. Also suggesting this because of the whole "You are the trainer and your weapons are your Pokemon" thing.

Hm, the most obvious choise for this is music discs, yet the average player will have trouble getting a musiic disc collection without buying them

For strength we could do:
-admin marks a block as ''strength-able'
-a region of around 10 blocks or so is set around the 'strength block' and players can only push the boulder within that area
-when the area is absent of any player, the 'strength block' resets to original position
-if someone attempts to push the "strength block" into another block or a wall or a player it wouldn't move
-I think setting discs as the HMs makes sense, and the rarity is just another challenge to getting HMs

well all you have to to is get a skeleton to kill a creeper ^.^
but would the discs be used to learn the move or is it like if you die you lose the move

If it could work with badges++, for example, when a player has the required amount of badges, they can use a particular HM. Its probably too much of an inconvenience to require the exact badge like in game, for similar reasons to being able to do the gyms in any order.

I suggest it being the amount of badges the user has instead of the user having specific badges.
Eg. Hm1=cut, hm2=fly
To use cut you would need 1 badge and to use fly you would need 2 etc.
