YouTube account problem

Ok, I'm having a bit of a problem with accessing my YouTube account. Whenever I try to login it says that my username or password is incorrect but I use the same username (sharkfin1997) and password for everything and I remember using them when I made the account.
It also definitely hasn't been deleted as when I try to make a new account using sharkfin1997 it says that username is taken.
I think it could be a problem with YouTube itself as when I go to the recover my password section and type in my username it says authorization error (or something like that) which it shouldn't do as there is definitely an account called sharkfin1997. I tried a heap of possible email addresses as well and they all did the same thing.


Dos anyone know what's wrong? Liquid? Ali? Anyone?
I'd really like to access my account and not have to make another as no one will know who I am.


btw I haven't done anything on the account since I made it like last year if that would cause any problems......
Also I'm the only sharkfin1997 in the world (google me).

Account compromised maybe? Thats probably a worst case scenario though... Check you're doing everything correctly, otherwise contact google/youtube?

If my account was compromised though, then in the find my password section it shouldn't come up with authorization error when I type in sharkfin1997 as the username.

Yeah I thought that might be the case but if it was it wouldn't say the username sharkfin1997 was taken when I try to make a new account with it.

Ok, I've gone into the google password recovery spot and I typed in the username sharkfin1997 but it's asking for my recovery email which I can't remember.

That is the clue. I tried [email protected] but that didn't work. I've got no idea what the email could be, I don't remember making an email like that. I'm really worried I made up a random one or put in random letters.


EDIT: I did a google 'verify my account' thing and had to put in information about my account and now I have to wait 3-4 days for the google people to get back to me but I don't think they'll give me the password as the questions were like 'What was the date your account stopped working?' and 'What date did you make your account?' and I had no idea of the answers.
I also tried answering the private question thing and tried the answers I'd most likely have put in but they all failed.

Do you have any Gmail accounts? Because Gmail automatically hooks up with your youtube and it should be the same login as your Gmail

I do have a new gmail that I've made but it's not under the username sharkfin1997. I believe this was ack when the gmail account wasn't connected to youtube.


I have made some progress. I found out what the username I used for the account was. Unfortunately it was a made up one with a fake suffix of @oz.
It would appear that your password needs to have at least 8 characters and the password I would have tried only has 7 so I may have made a variant that I can't recall. I can't email myself the password because I don't have an email....

Barn is 50% on track. Youtube uses both your Username & Email as security details, therefore if you know your email, try using that instead of your supposed username, It doesn't have to be a Gmail address.
