Bleh.
So. What I want to happen.
You will, in one post, after this one, using this format:
IGN:
Money Lost (True/False):
Home sets Lost (True/False):
XP Bank Reset (True/False):
Mcmmo Stats Reset (True/False):
If you have them, provide screenshots of your last updated stats/money.
I can selectively roll back homesets to March 22, and Money will probably be applied if that is done.
Mcmmo is more of a pain to work with, but expect a rollback to March 22 if no screenshot is given.
You can TRY to give me a list of ALL of your stats (if you don't remember them, they stay at 0) but don't expect me to be gentle.
Now, while you go panic and dig through your computer for one possible screenshot that is less than 9 days old, I will attempt to explain what happened (to the best of my knowledge).
We updated to 1.5.1 on March 23rd.
Chestshop had a development build on their bukkitdev page, and I appropriately used it, because to not have chestshop would 100% break any chest protection players have on them, in the wild areas. Looting ftw.
While Chestshop was in, it wasn't ready for 1.5.1; it was outputting something known as a Stack Trace, also known as about 10 lines of unintelligible-to-non-programmer error information.
It would do this when a PlayerInventoryClickEvent was called. So every. Time. You. Click. An. Item. In. Your. Inventory. Or. A. Chest. Or. Any. Thing. With. A. Clickable. Slot. Such. As. A. Furnace.
That goes for quick-equipping armor, sorting items in a chest, and notch-knows-what.
How many times do you think people do that on an active server? Per hour? Per day? Per NINE DAYS?
Now, that "Stack Trace" is written in the server log, which is just another text document. Documents have file sizes, and must be stored somewhere.
Average server log size before I get annoyed and recycle it? 20MB. (thats around 20 million bytes).
Size when the "lag where no one could do anything" happened? Somewhere between 135GB and way too huge (135GB is around 135 BILLION bytes). Our host literally ran out of storage on the computer that runs our server (and others). SO every time ANOTHER plugin wanted to save? No space on disk. Can't save. Cancel saving.
So, today, I finally managed to delete the beast of a server log, and upload the bugfix version of chestshop. And am left with all this mess to clean up.
As a parting note, I want all the people who bugged me to update to 1.5.1 to reread this line:
While Chestshop was in, it wasn't ready for 1.5.1;
So if you really wanted to update, and now your stuff is gone, because you happened to be playing in the last week, and the server couldn't save your information? You had it coming for being impatient. Now you may have learned why we waited all of OMG SO LONG 9 days before we updated. Bad shit happens, and now you are part of the club that knows it.
