I am not much of a writer but fuck it everyone else is doing it, lets go.
As I sit in my room reading books from what seem to be an ancient history of this world I gaze out my window, "What could have caused the world to be like this, what will it take to let the people of kanto feel safe, even if just for a little bit, we need a hero, we need some sort of hope." Oddy closes his book entitled "Reds Ride to Champ", and he walks downstairs to talk to his mother.
"Mother" He says, "you were a child before the war broke weren't you?"
"Yes Oddy, I was" She replied, "but in times like this, its foolish to think of the world before Team Rocket's reign"
Oddy lowered his head with a slight tear in his eye thinking to himself of how kids used to wander the world at only 10 years old and it was fine, but here he is, only 1 week from 17 and he's never left pallet town, hes never even seen a pokemon, its just too dangerous out there they said, and with pallet towns limited resources, Team Rocket had little to no interest in them so they were left alone for the most part.
Later that evening as Oddy lay in bed he heard dishes smash downstairs, he rushed down to see his mother wrapped by a large purple snake, something Oddy had never seen. He charged to assist her but was stopped in his tracks.
"Venomoth use sleep powder"
Those were the last words he heard, the last time he saw his mother. When Oddy awoke his house in shambles and his mother missing he rushed out the door and Headed straight towards route 1, Before he was stopped by an old man.
"Don't move any further boy" shouted the old man
"You dont understand they took my mo..."
" I KNOW COMPLETLY, MISTY WAS A VERY DEAR FRIEND OF MINE" the old man shouted back, "now, if you want to be any use finding her you will need a pokemon, come with me"
Oddy looking shocked, as he's never seen this man before and yet he knows his mothers name, reluctantly follows him.
They arrive at his house and the old man tells Oddy his story. "My name is Red he said, I knew your mother when she was a gym leader, I once traveled and defeated the Pokemon league"
"Then why didnt you help!" Oddy shouts
"That was 50 years ago, most my pokemon were lost in the war, and most the survivors have passed with age at this point. I have 1 pokemon remaining, he hasnt been trained much, that i will leave to you, This is a Psyduck i recently found while walking the water way at the south of the town, be loyal to him and he will be loyal to you. Last but not least, Pokecenters are long gone at this point, so take this book on how to mix your own medicine for pokemon, and keep an eye out for the black market you can find most things a trainer will need there, since team rocket runs all the Pokemarts now, avoid them with great caution, now go and be safe, find your mother!"
Oddy ran to the north bound exit Not sure what to expect when he reached route one he looked in disbelief at what he saw after leaving his town. Psyduck released itself from his pokeball and also looked apon the site in disbelief.
